NEUROLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Nerve assessment is crucial in providing excellent foot health. A patient with altered sensation is at increased risk for foot complications, including ulceration, infection and limb loss. Decreased nerve supply may also cause biomechanical and foot structure changes. A neurological assessment will be provided for all patients.
To determine peripheral neuropathy, the 2 following instruments are used:
1. 5.07 g Semmes-Weinstein Monofilament
2. 128 Hz Tuning Fork
Based on the severity of the neuropathy, our Chiropodists at the Royal City Foot Clinic will determine an appropriate treatment plan to prevent further complications. Further neurological testing will be done for those patients at increased risk.
