GAIT & BIOMECHANICAL ASSESSMENT
A gait assessment is an assessment of the patients normal walking, or running pattern. Chiropodists and Podiatrists are trained to effectively diagnose, treat, and monitor patient gait. Royal City Foot Clinic will provide a necessary gait assessment for all patients. The practicing Chiropodist will assess every step taken and see the implications (if present) on the patients musculoskeletal system.
A biomechanical assessment will include a weight-bearing and nonweight-bearing assessment of the patients lower limb and musculoskeletal system. Each joint will be tested through its range of motion. Muscle strength will be tested to see if there are any discrepancies potentially causing problems. Ligaments and tendons will be assessed to see if there are any faults. A full biomechanical assessment provides the Chiropodist/Podiatrist with the necessary information to accurately prescribe a treatment plan and provide the needed modifications to custom orthotics.
